Description: Tarashikomi or Japanese marbling is a wonderful way to create abstract shapes and forms to bring a fresh feel to watercolors. Clear water is applied to rice paper and then hand ground black ink is dropped into the water. The water and ink blend and flow to create abstract shapes in black and varying shades of gray. Once dry, color washes and other brush strokes can be added to complete the painting. Warning, this technique can be ADDICTIVE!
